Tendering & Commercial Manager - Leicestershire

Our well established client provide high integrity systems and equipment for the latest Defence Programmes, from automated systems for state of the art Aircraft Carriers, to missile defence systems for Fighters and safety systems for Nuclear Submarines.

Due to their continued success, they now have a requirement for a Tendering & Commercial Manager to manage and deliver high quality proposals to Defence Prime Contractors and Navies worldwide, ensuring that our proposals adhere to the group contracting principles.

 

Typical core duties will involve but will not be limited to:  

  • Managing the delivery of successful, professional tenders and proposals to a range of international customers in the defence marketplace.
  • Developing and managing an excellent tendering process that identifies the customer’s key needs and translates them in to a cost-effective product.
  • Managing the cost build up of tenders in conjunction with engineering and project delivery teams.
    Providing commercial & legal support to Project Managers.
  • Reviewing RFQ terms and conditions against the company contracting principles and liaising with Head Office on approvals.
  • Working with the Sales team to ensure that tenders are technically and financially competitive.
  • Working with the Supply Chain team to develop the quality and cost effectiveness of our standard product portfolio.
  • Presenting tenders to the Business Unit Director and Head Office for formal approval prior to submission to client.

Knowledge / Experience:

Demonstrable experience working in a tendering and commercial capacity within an Engineering Projects Industry.

  • Demonstrable experience of negotiating contract terms with prime contractors.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both spoken and written.
  • Experienced in dealing with a range of customers and contractual arrangements, from ascertained cost and earned value to firm and fixed price contracts.
  • A track record in winning multi-million pound contracts.  

Qualifications / Understanding: 

  • Be educated to degree (or equivalent) level in Engineering and / or Business or Legal.
  • Be comfortable and \ or experienced in working away from the office for short periods of time.
  • Be comfortable with air travel.
  • Be comfortable with networking at all levels and in all professional situations.
  • Be an excellent communicator and presenter of themselves, the company and its products.

The successful candidate will ideally have previous exposure to bespoke engineering or engineering systems and not just a straight 'product' background.

 

In return the company offer a salary circa £40-50K depending on experience plus benefits.
