Candidate Services in a recession

Written By Shaun Durham - 6th January 2009

At Moon Consulting we pride ourselves on working with clients between periods of recruitment, offering advice and an impartial view on a wide range of business issues. During the current economic climate requests from clients have invariably focused on retention and redundancy advice.

For Small Business owners in particular it can be an anxious time, not just in terms of adhering to legislation, but in the desire to treat employees professionally and courteously. Chris Eatwell, of Moon HR Consulting, is able to offer common-sense people strategies for businesses anxious to remain competitive during 2009.

He comments: "75% of the issues which end up in front of Employment Tribunals are not there because of poor intent, but due to poorly implemented procedures and misguided thinking, not adhering to good employment practices and employment law. This can all be avoided if good advice is sought and taken at an early enough stage. In fact it's never too late to improve the situation with good advice!"

We have seen an increase in our 'out-placement' services for candidates, meaning CV and interview advice; market analysis and tips on networking. Of course, by registering candidates we are able to apprise them of any suitable career opportunities. Not only does this enable the client to contribute positively to what is a very difficult time for all concerned, but it empowers the individual in the job market.

If you would like a confidential discussion with Chris or one of our consultants please do not hesitate to contact us.
